This delicious Kahlua Nutella Hot Chocolate is infused with Kahlua coffee-flavoured liquor, topped with whipped cream and melted Nutella.
I love a good hot chocolate. On a cold winter day, it’s like a warm, comforting hug when the weather looks like the final few minutes of The Day After Tomorrow. You know when a cup of this Kahlua Nutella hot chocolate would have been perfect? About two years ago, during the insanity that was the great Christmas ice storm of 2013.
For those living in Southern Ontario like I was at the time, you would remember this well. I’m pretty sure Jake Gyllenhaal et. al. time travelled to the future to film their movie near Toronto, it was that bad. Here’s the scene:
It started with an unseasonably warm rain near Christmas, which isn’t always out of the ordinary in our slice of Ontario. What made it extraordinary was the sudden shift down in temperature, turning that rain into bitterly freezing precipitation. Overnight, our town and many surrounding it, turned into Elsa’s ice palace.
I mean it. Every single thing was coated in inches of pure ice. It looked like a winter-themed amusement park, except for the extreme damage to almost every tree in town, the downed power lines, and lack of electricity. Did I mention that? Some people, like my friend, spent a week without power at Christmas. Happy holidays?
Yep, alcohol, Nutella and hot chocolate would have been much appreciated then.
Like my rum-spiked white hot chocolate, this Kahlua Nutella hot chocolate has a healthy dose of spirits in the form of delicious coffee-flavoured Kahlua. When you add on a dollop of creamy Cool Whip and warm drizzled Nutella, you’re all set. It comes together in a few short minutes and is the warmest, most comforting hug you can get in hot chocolate form.
Keep warm, folks!
